Our Talisman - Didier Drogba

Didier Drogba Chelsea's Talisman has decided to leave Chelsea FC and its been hard to accept that decision as he has been our main man, always bringing Chelsea out of difficult situations but we have to respect his decision.He is going but he has given us the ultimate gift we always wanted - The Champions League.

So I would bring you the top five most important goals he scored that has won us many trophies.

1. Equalizing Goal and the Winning Penalty Against Bayern

Chelsea were trailing 1-0 and with that their hopes of winning the Champions league final was looking bleak and then came the man called Drogba who from nowhere hit a powerful header past Neuer to bring Chelsea back in to the game.He then converted the decisive penalty to win Chelsea their maiden Champions League title.

2. Winning Goal against Manchester United in the 2007 FA Cup final 


The game was heading towards penalties as both sides fail to score any goal and then after a neat one two pass with Frank Lampard, Drogba scored the winning goal beating Edwin Van Der Sar with four minutes left and thus winning the cup for Chelsea.

3. Winning Goal against Arsenal in the 2009 FA Cup Semifinal 


The game had been locked at 1-1 and was heading towards extra time when Drogba beat Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to Frank Lampard's long ball to put Chelsea again in the FA Cup final against Everton.

4. Winning Goal against Liverpool in the 2012 FA Cup final


Chelsea were leading 1-0 thanks to Ramires goal and Drogba collected a pass from Lampard and drilled it passed Pepe Reina and Skrtel to hand Chelsea a decisive 2-0 lead early in the second half.Although Andy Caroll pulled a goal back but Chelsea hold on to register their first trophy under interim manager Roberto Di Matteo.

5.  Goal against Liverpool in the 2009 Champions League Quaterfinal 2nd leg


Liverpool were leading 2-0 and were 3-3 on aggregate and Chelsea desperately needed a goal and then Drogaba  produced a shot from narrowest of angle which Pepe Reina failed to stop.That was a decisive goal as Chelsea looked more confident and controlled the game and at the end the crazy game ended in a 4-4 draw.

Simply Incredible!

The Saturday night, 19th May a day I will cherish every year because its the day when Chelsea created history by winning the Champions League for the first time in the Club history.Chelsea players booked their place in the club history by becoming the first team to win the Champions League.

What a night!It was truly memorable.It was Chelsea against the whole world as everybody wanted Bayern to win the final but Chelsea with their sheer determination proved everybody wrong.The starting line up shocked everybody with the introduction of Bertrand in the starting line up to help Ashley Cole in order to nullify the effect of  Robben and both team fighting for Champions League title.

The game started with Bayern controlling the game and Chelsea defending and it was Bayern attacking through Robben and Ribery attacking from the flanks and trying to cause problems for Chelsea.Chelsea were out of sorts in the first few minutes but then looked composed and need Cech to save a fierce shot hit by Robben and he somehow kept it out.

Gomez got a great chance to put Bayern ahead when he shoot way over the bar after beautifully foxed Gary Cahill.Chelsea got close on one occasion when their counterattacking ended with Kalou taking a shot which was saved by Neuer.The first half whistle was a huge sigh of relief for Chelsea players and their fans.

In the second half Chelsea looked more organised and were coming forward and that's was good to see but Bayern were still having the possession and they were threatening.Ashley Cole was great and blocked two of Robben fierce shots which could have resulted in the goal.

Chelsea duo Cahill and Luiz were amazing in defence and were frustating Bayern.Lampard and Mikel were great in their defensive roles and were really cool in every pressure situations,getting timely blocks and winning most of the balls.

Bertrand was protecting the flanks and was doing his job perfectly and Kalou was supporting defensively and was there when Chelsea needed to go forward. Mata was really working hard,always winning the ball and trying to convert in to attack and almost covered a large portion of the ground.

Drogba was there alone fighting for the long balls which was provided  by their mates and taking the two central defenders alone.Bayern munich were attacking and paid for their effort when Kroos beautiful pass was headed brilliantly by Muller to put Bayern ahead with seven minutes left.

Chelsea made the immediate change by bringing on Fernando Torres for Kalou and Bayern coach thought he had the match in the pocket and hence replaced Thomas Muller with a defender Daniel Van Buyten.

Bringing Torres was a great move as he was responsible for our equalizer as he was the one who won the corner for us and it was the first and the last corner for us.Mata took the corner and his cross found Drogba who hit a strong header which was unstoppable.

Chelsea got the equalizer and it seemed that this would be Chelsea night.The game went in  to the extra time and Drogba nearly turned hero to villian as he brought down Ribery in the box and Bayern got the penalty.Ribery had to go off as he was injured and Robben stepped forward to take the penalty and Cech was up to it and he has done incrediblely well to stop it.

Fernando Torres was looking good and troubling Bayern defence and Bayern were trying to attack to score the decisive goal and they came close in the second extra time when Olic volleys a deep cross to the back post across goal towards his fellow substitute Daniel Van Buyten , but the big centre-back is not on the same wavelength and fails to make any kind of attempt to divert the ball into the back of the net and it was a huge escape for Chelsea.

Then the game headed in to the penalties and five players from each team came forward to take the penalty.From Bayern - Lahm,Gomez,Neuer,Olic, Schweinsteiger and from Chelsea - Mata,Luiz,Lampard,Cole and Drogba.

Lahm converted the penalty to put Bayern ahead but Cech got hand to it.

Mata missed it for Chelsea and it was a good save by Neuer.Bayern lead 1-0.

Gomez succesfully converted the next penalty to put Bayern 2-0 ahead.

Luiz came forward to take the second penalty for Chelsea and converted it beautifully to put open the scoring for Chelsea.

Neuer took the third penalty and converted it and again Cech jumped in the right direction but failed to touch it.Bayern lead 3-1.

Lampard took the third penalty and hit it past Neuer to put Chelsea 2-3.

Olic took the fourth penalty for Bayern and missed it .Cech made a great save to give Chelsea a lifeline.Bayern lead 3-2.

Cole took the fourth penalty and coolly put it past Neuer to bring Chelsea level on 3-3.

Schweinsteiger took the fifth penalty and his shot took the touch of Cech and hit the post and missed and Drogba had the chance to win it for Chelsea.Bayern3-3Chelsea.

Drogba took the decisive penalty and converted it calmly to win it for Chelsea and Chelsea team were celebrating it like hell.Chelsea 4-3 Bayern.

Then it was party time for Chelsea and their supporters and this was the first Champions league title for the whole team except for Paulo Ferreira who won it with Porto also.The new guys like Mata,Meireles have won it in their first season and what an achievement.

Its a great feeling to be a Chelsea fan as we have waited so long for this trophy.Its hard for Bayern players and fans to take it but it was written in the stars that Chelsea will be the new Champions of Europe.

The work done by Di Matteo and his team was great and I hope Roman will give Di Matteo a full time contract as he is the one who changed the club's fortune and won him that trophy which has eluded him for so long.

And I feel our talisman Drogba should get a two year contract for what he has done and he his definitely a big match player.Please Roman keep him and Di Matteo.

And for all you Chelsea fans I would just tell you to salute this Chelsea team who have given their all.Luiz and Cahill was superb despite their injury.Ashley Cole and Bosingwa was great, Lampard, Mikel, Torres, Mata,Bertrand were simply outstanding,Terry,Ramires,Ivanovic and Meireles were superb in earlier rounds and Drogba our Talisman was simply great and Cech our saviour was simply out of this world.Enjoy the moment Chelsea fans it will be hard to forget this incredible moment.

All hopes on Champions League final

Although we lost two consecutive league matches against Newcastle and Liverpool which ended our Champions League hopes on league front we still have a chance to qualify by winning against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. It would be a huge task for Chelsea because it will definitely play a huge role in deciding Chelsea's future in next year's Champions League competition.

A famous victory against Liverpool in the FA Cup final was a great one and it was a great achievement for Roberto Di Matteo as a coach and a huge boost ahead of a massive final against Bayern Munich.

The game started with Chelsea dominating and their dominance paid off when Ramires opened the scoring when Mata played a good ball behind the Liverpool defence.

After opened the scoring Chelsea dominated the first half creating ample opportunities and were deserved to be ahead. The second half started on a similar note and Chelsea doubled their lead with their talisman Drogba scoring and it was a great goal. With that goal Drogba became the only man to score everytime he played at Wembley in the FA Cup.

Liverpool then hit back with a goal and the scorer was the big lad Andy Caroll. It was a well taken goal with Caroll wrong footing John Terry and hit a great shot in the net with Cech beaten.

After that it was all Liverpool dominating possession and creating chances after chances and they almost equalized in the 82nd minute when Caroll header was saved brilliantly by Cech and the replayed showed that the ball had not fully crossed the line.It was truly a world class save by Cech.

Chelsea hold on to their lead and earned a remarkable win against their rivals and it was the first trophy for most of the lads but it was the first one for Fernando Torres after almost five years in England and I'm happy for him, he definitely have improved and is now a more team player creating chances and fighting it out for the team.

Our last league game is against Blackburn Rovers and would like to end the season on a high and it would be great to go in to the final of the Champions League with that same winning mentality.

Great performance by Chelsea

What a performance against QPR after their great result against Barcelona. Chelsea have carried the confidence of the win against Barcelona to the QPR match and what a result we have got,6-1 win against them have moved Chelsea within one point of Tottenham and Newcastle.

The match was surrounded by the Terry-Ferdinand handshake but inside the first 25 minutes Chelsea were 4-0 up. Inside the first 45 seconds Chelsea were one nil up thanks to a superb strike by Daniel Sturridge.

 

Chelsea were looking great and were threatening QPR. The second goal was scored by Terry from the corner and Chelsea were looking in a hurry to finish the match.






The third goal was superbly converted by Torres and it was exactly the same way he scored against Barcelona.  A mistake by QPR goalie lead to Chelsea's fourth goal as he was unable to collect the ball and Torres was in the right position to score.

The second half was almost same as Chelsea were attacking and looking for more goals.









Torres then completed his first hatrick for Chelsea when he scored the goal which was beautifully setup by Mata.

With three points already in the pocket Chelsea scored their sixth when Malouda scored from Ferdinands deflection and although Cisse scored for QPR, it was a superb team display with great creativity and finishing.

Our next match is against Newcastle and if we are able to collect the three points and if Tottenham drop points then we would be fourth and back in the hunt for Champions league qualification next season.With this we head to Wembley for the FA Cup final and that would be a really tough match and I hope Chelsea will be victorious.

Great night for Chelsea

What a game!What a fightback!Truly a night to remember if you are a Chelsea fan.It was a night full of drama and action,it was more like a thriller and at the end there was only one winner Chelsea.Before the match it was assumed that Barcelona are the favourites to win the match and Chelsea would have a long night.

The first half was full of mystery and the way it went most of us would have thought that it would be a one sided affair.The match started as it usually starts with Barca attacking and Chelsea defending.Barca came close on two occasion and both the chance fell to Messi who missed it somehow.When Gary Cahill was injured just after 12 minutes we lost a reliable defender and his replacement was Bosingwa.

After keeping Barca silent for 30 odd minutes the first goal came when Chelsea fail to judge the pass given by Cuenca and Sergio Busquets was their to see the ball home.Barca were back in the tie and the aggregate was 1-1.

Then came the most heartbreaking moment for Chelsea fans when their inspirational captain John Terry was given a straight red card for a foul on Alexis Sanchez although it looked a bit harsh,Terry was fully responsible for that.

From then on there was most likely one winner and that was Barcelona and when Iniesta converted the chance from Messi to make it 2-0 we all felt it is over and Barca will win 5 or 6 nil and it was possible playing against Barca and that too with ten men,its like hell.

But Ramires from nowhere scored the goal with a beautiful chip over Barcelona keeper Valdes to bring  Chelsea back in the game and lets not forget Lampard who played a great ball to Ramires in both the legs and Chelsea go into the half  knowing they have a chance here.

The second half started with Chelsea formation looking like 4-5-0 with Drogba playing as a left back and Chelsea came with the idea of defending and if possible hit Barca on the counterattack.But as everything was going fine Barca got the penalty with Drogba committing a foul on Fabregas.Messi step forward to take the penalty and he missed and it was like Oh My God!How did he missed that?. When he did that there was a sense that it would be a Chelsea night.

Chelsea were defending brilliantly and Barca were finding it difficult to break Chelsea down.But when Messi hit a low shot,Cech just got a fingertip to deflect it to the post.

When Drogba replacement Torres got the ball just before the half line when Cole cleared I was just like please score it and he did brilliantly to put Chelsea in the final.But we lost four great players due to suspensions - Terry,Ramires,Ivanovic and Meireles.

But for me all the players played like heroes,heroes that never back down.Chelsea will now meet Bayen in the final in Bayern own stadium Allianz Arena and it would be a tough match but Chelsea should go there and fight it out for the title.

Champions League hope still Alive

The Arsenal match was not so attractive as it would rather be.It was much like a game where Chelsea were sitting deep and hoping to hit Arsenal on the counterattack.Only three players from the Barcelona game started as Di Matteo rested players for their crucial Champions League game.

The match started good for Arsenal as they had the most possession and were looking composed whereas Chelsea were defending deep.Arsenal had great chances in the first half.The first one was Van Persie received a great ball only to hit it to the post.

The second one was when Koscielny hit the bar from the freekick and the last one when Persie hit straight at Cech.The second half started on a similar note where Arsenal had a large amount of possession.

Arsenal had chances but Chelsea were too having the ball and looking dangerous on counterattack but most of the time the final ball was not great and Chelsea were not able to fully threaten Arsenal.

Sturridge got a great chance to open the scoring but the control was not good and Koscielny was able to put away the danger.The match ended with both the team shared a point and it was a good point from Chelsea perspective but not so good from Arsenal perspective.

The next match of Chelsea is the 2nd leg of Champions league against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and it would be a huge task for Chelsea and I hope Chelsea will get a positive result there that will help us enter the Champions League final for the second time.

Two great wins

The 5-1 drubbing of Tottenham followed by a hard fought 1-0 win over Barcelona have given Chelsea a new belief that they can get the result with hard work and patience.The Tottenham match was controversial because of Chelsea's second goal but overall Chelsea deserved to win that match.Drogba and Lampard scored a great goal and Ramires and Malouda completed a memorable win and a place in the FA Cup final.

The Tottenham and Barcelona game had a similarity in terms of goal scorer Drogba.Barcelona game started as we all expected with Barcelona having the possession and Chelsea defending.Barcelona looked threatening and they would have scored when Iniesta chipped a ball to Sanchez only for Sanchez to hit the bar.

Fabregas came close on two occasions to open the scoring but failed to utilize it. Chelsea defence stood strong and the disciplined they shown in defence were remarkable. Cahill especially was superb considering its only his second full start to a Champions League match and that too against a great Barcelona side.Ashley Cole and John Terry were great.

Chelsea were superb in defence and when Messi lost the ball in midfield which rarely happens Lampard passed a beautiful ball to Ramires and Ramires was just able to pass the ball behind the Barcelona defence where Drogba touched it to open the scoring.

The second half was similar to first half where Barcelona dominated and Cech was tested time and time again but he saved each one of them.Chelsea were defending and blocking each shot of Barcelona.Barcelona were left frustated not because they were unable to score but because Drogba was making them frustated with his drama play.

In the stoppage time Chelsea supporters almost got the  flashback of  Chelsea-Barcelona 2009 semifinal when the ball hit the post and Busquet hit the shot way over and it was like Thank God! and Chelsea hold on to mark a hard fought win.

The 2nd leg would be even more difficult and if Chelsea scores first then they would have a good chance of advancing to the Final.Now the attention shifts to the Arsenal match and Di Matteo will choose the best possible team to get the result at the Emirates.

I hope in the coming matches Chelsea get the result they want and that will make their season even more interesting and exciting.
